Mark A. Cervinski, PhD, DABCC

Dr. Cervinski is an Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth, and the Director of Clinical Chemistry and Point-of-Care Testing at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Among diverse interests in clinical chemistry and laboratory medicine, Dr. Cervinski is currently focused on using patient data as a supplementary quality control strategy, as well as test utilization/optimization and finding efficiencies in delivering laboratory results.

Patricia M. Jones, PhD, DABCC, FAACC

Dr. Jones is the Clinical Director of the Chemistry and Metabolic Disease Laboratories at Children’s Health System, Dallas, TX, and Professor of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. She is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry. Dr. Jones has been a member of the AACC since 1986 and has served the association as President in 2016, on the Board of Directors, as Chair of the Pediatric and Maternal-Fetal Division, Chair of the Texas Section, and secretary of the TDM/Toxicology Division. She currently serves as Chair of the Policy and External Affairs Core Committee.

Joe El-Khoury, PhD, DABCC, FAACC

Dr. El-Khoury is an Associate Professor of Laboratory Medicine and Director of the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory at Yale School of Medicine. He is board certified by the American Board of Clinical Chemistry and a fellow of the AACC Academy. He currently serves on the Editorial Boards of Clinical Chemistry and Clinical Biochemistry, as Chair of the IFCC Committee on Kidney Diseases, and on the Board of Directors for AACC. He recently launched his own YouTube channel, titled “Clinical Chemistry with Joe El-Khoury”, which infuses science with comedy and is focused on changing laboratory medicine practice.

Hisham Shams, MD, PhD

Dr. Shams obtained his bachelor’s degree in medicine and surgery from Kasr El-Aini School of Medicine at Cairo University, followed by a residency in Clinical Pathology, and subsequently had a Clinical Master's degree and Clinical Ph.D. in Clinical Chemistry. He worked as a fellow in the National cancer institute, Cairo University, as the medical director of the laboratory medicine department in Saudi German Hospital Group, and as the chief medical officer of Alborg medical laboratories in the GCC. Dr. Shams is currently the Chief Scientific Officer of Life Diagnostics laboratories in the United Arab Emirates.

Rania Bedair, MD, PhD

Dr. Bedair is a lecturer of Chemical Pathology at Medical Research Institute, Alexandria University, Egypt. Currently, she is working as a consultant Pathologist and Chief Medical Officer at Life Diagnostics, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. After graduating from Alexandria University School of Medicine in 2003, Dr. Bedair joined the Chemical Pathology department as a resident where she completed her clinical attachment and received her master's and doctoral degrees in Chemical Pathology and Molecular Diagnostics. She was appointed as a consultant and lecturer of Chemical Pathology at Alexandria University. Dr. Rania has attended and participated in numerous scientific conferences and workshops in the field of laboratory medicine, newborn screening, and molecular diagnostics and has publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Han is AP/CP board certified and has close to 30 years of general pathology practice. He has practiced in the United Arab Emirates and the United States. Dr. Han has an interest in cancer pathology and personalized medicine. He has previously served on the Point of Care Committee for the College of American Pathologists.
